分析をする

Using it is super simple. You take the noun 分析 (analysis) and add をする (to do). In casual talk, you can drop the を. Just say 分析する. If you’re at work, use 分析を行います. It sounds more professional. You can analyze almost anything. Data, results, or even your own failures. Just put the object first with を. For example: データを分析する (Analyze the data).

Use this when you need to be logical. It’s perfect for office meetings. Use it when discussing sales or marketing. It’s also great for hobbies. Maybe you’re analyzing a pro gamer’s moves. Or you’re looking at why your garden isn't growing. It shows you are thinking critically. It’s a very smart-sounding phrase. Use it when you want to sound objective.

Don’t use it for simple observations. If you see a red car, don't say you're 'analyzing' its color. That’s just 見る (looking). Also, avoid it for pure emotions. If you’re sad, don’t 'analyze' your sadness with friends. It sounds a bit cold or robotic. In those cases, use 考える (think) or 感じる (feel). Don’t be the person who 'analyzes' a joke. It kills the vibe immediately!

Japan loves a good process. You might hear about the 'PDCA' cycle in Japanese offices. That stands for Plan, Do, Check, Act. 分析をする is the heart of the 'Check' phase. There is a cultural respect for being thorough. People appreciate it when you don't just guess. They like to see the logic. It shows you are being responsible and careful. It’s a sign of a 'shikkari' (reliable) person.

In the tech world, you’ll hear 自己分析 (self-analysis). Students do this when job hunting. They analyze their own strengths. Another one is 徹底的に分析する. This means to analyze 'thoroughly.' It sounds very intense! You might also see 分析結果 (analysis results). If you’re busy doing it right now, say 分析中 (analyzing). It’s a great way to tell your boss to wait a minute.
