A program or practice of working part-time while studying to support oneself financially. Frequent in TOEFL conversations about financial aid or campus jobs.

To attend a class or a meeting as a listener without being officially enrolled or having to take exams.

Activities, readings, or studies that are outside the formal classroom curriculum or regular school hours.

To publicize and explain (policies, ideas, or products) through a talk or presentation. Very common for 'campus recruitment talks' (宣讲会).

To have a firm grip on something, usually referring to mastering a skill, language, or understanding a situation thoroughly.

To change something slightly, especially in order to improve it or make it less extreme. Commonly used for texts, plans, or laws.

To specialize in a particular academic subject as one's main area of study at a college or university.

The state of being absent from work or school when one is expected to be there.

To report one's arrival or presence at a certain place, such as a school or workplace, to start one's duties or studies.

To temporarily suspend one's studies at school or university, usually with the intention of returning later.
