The letter و changes its personality based on its surroundings. When it starts a word, it is almost always a consonant. It makes the 'w' sound like in 'water'. When it is in the middle or end, things get interesting. It can still be a 'w', or it can turn into a long vowel. This long vowel sounds like the 'oo' in 'moon'. How do you tell the difference?
