Quanto à conceitos

You use it at the start of a sentence or a clause to introduce a new sub-topic. A common grammatical trap is the accent (crase). Since conceitos is masculine and plural, you should technically say Quanto aos conceitos (specific) or Quanto a conceitos (general). Using the grave accent à before a masculine word is a common mistake even for natives, but it's good to know the rule! Just drop it in when you want to sound organized and precise.

Use this in a business meeting when moving from 'budget' to 'strategy.' Use it in a university essay to distinguish between practice and theory. You can even use it with friends when debating a movie—moving from the 'acting' to the 'philosophical concepts' of the plot. It makes you sound like you’ve really thought your argument through.

Don't use it for very simple, physical things. You wouldn't say Quanto a conceitos when talking about who is bringing the beer to the BBQ. It’s too heavy for that. Also, avoid it in extremely casual slang-heavy environments where it might come off as a bit 'know-it-all' or overly formal. If you're just texting 'What's up?', this isn't your phrase.

Portuguese speakers value 'bem-falado' (well-spoken) discourse. Using connectors like Quanto a shows education and clarity of thought. In Brazil and Portugal, being able to distinguish between the 'practical' and the 'conceptual' is a hallmark of a good debater. It’s a phrase that gained traction in legal and academic circles before filtering into professional life.

You will often hear Em relação aos conceitos or No que diz respeito aos conceitos. These mean the exact same thing but are slightly wordier. If you want to be more direct, you can just say Sobre os conceitos. However, Quanto a remains the most elegant way to pivot a topic mid-conversation.
