Just remember to conjugate أخد if you are asking for someone else.

Do not use this with friends if you want to borrow five dollars. For small personal favors, use سلف (borrow) instead of قرض. قرض implies interest, contracts, and legalities. Using it with your brother might make him think you want to sign a contract! Also, avoid it in very casual settings where 'loan' sounds too heavy. Keep it for the professionals.
